Title: Getting rid of that annoying video on start...
Post by: Onucia on 21. October 2006, 01:04:45 (01:04 AM)
I finaly found a way to do it ;D

Open your eq2.ini file with notepad and add "cl_movie_enabled 0" (without the "") as a new line in it  >:D
Save, launch game...and tadaaaa ;D

Now all I need to do is find out how to stop the patcher from asking me twice to accept the lience on each start...(asks me for both the old licence 14.7.2005 and the new one 21.8.2006)

Also wonder this Elisia, hate that double acceptence also.

I know there is a way around this, but with that way. I miss the updating thingy  :-\

You will always have to accept 2 EULA, there's no way around it.

The first pertains to the actual game of EverQuest II, the version you and I play.

The second applies only to station exchange servers but as SoE can't stop anyone playing on both standard ruleset and SE enabled servers they make everyone agree to the SE server EULA.

they could verywell mix all that in 1 EULA... :(

Yes they could.

But the SE terms and conditions and EULA would not be binding outside of the USA as the laws in different countries prohibit the kind of operation that SE would bring or the laws that protect SE servers don't apply outside the USA.

This would mean that it could be easily challenged that the EULA could not be enforced on accounts outside of the USA because the EULA violated or opposed statutory rights in many countries. This is why SOE are kind of forced into having 2 EULA.

Right click your short-cut icon for Everquest 2 and select properties, then under the field saying

Target: E:\EverQuest2\EQ2.exe (or C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest2\EQ2.exe or something like that depending on where you installed the game) change it to to add /env:usmain /lang:en_US. The target field should now say something along the lines of

E:\EverQuest2\EQ2.exe /env:usmain /lang:en_US

Click OK to save the changes, and next time you start up the game you should only get the EULA once (if playing on a US server)  :)

Yay for old messages  *cough cough*

Hmm... could sound like you copied and pasted everything I wrote, and not just added the US-language reference parts...?   *ponder*

If that is what you did, you need to have the game's installation part in the target box there unmodified and only add
/env:usmain /lang:en_US
to what is already there.

So, say for example you installed the game under C:\Programme\Sony\Everquest2 then the target box should say already say something like
C:\Programme\Sony\Everquest2\EQ2.exe
and when you add the language reference it should say
C:\Programme\Sony\Everquest2\EQ2.exe /env:usmain /lang:en_US
If your game installation path is different from the example you would have to either leave what is already in the target box unchanged, or change it to reflect the directory name where the game is actually installed...

If you already did this and then got the error message, then it's kind of hard to guess without knowing what you actually changed and what it (the target field box) currently says  :-\

try the following...
"C:\Programme\Sony\Everquest2\EQ2.exe" /env:usmain /lang:en_US
(pay close attention to the use of quotes)

Oh, was searching for some old raid info and bumped into this!  Might still be of use to the new people, so...  Le Bump!  (Or something, my French is horrible (actually non-existent))

Come to think of it, I believe they made an in-game option to turn off the introduction video, but do you still get that message box twice?  I haven't changed stuff for so long that I have no idea.

Hmm, I don't think I've ever had the double-EULA thing.  But then I almost always choose US english for anything I install ever.  I stop short of choosing the wrong timezone, mind you.

I had the double EULA for a long time then figured out what it was.  I will give you exact details of how to get rid of it when I get access to my game files.  Mine essentially started when I copied what I thought were required files I needed to restore when I reinstalled EQ2 once, so that I wouldn't lose UI settings, windows layouts - that sort of thing.  Turns out this file (again can't remember which) gets recreated once you reinstall regardless if it has been put there by you.  Then somehow launcher checks both!

I will post when I can tell you which one it is specifically you need to delete.  Worked for me and only get one again.
