Just for info the director worked on many huge series like Evangelion, Cowboy bebop, Full metal panic... The list is huge, so many great series/movies. I can only guess it must be great quality.

The opening is from second season, which is currently airing.

The first season was really good! I dunno if I like the second season though... I don't like the way the main character is in this one... Maybe it'll pick up later on after these episodes that are out so far.

Actually second season is quite good, starting from i'd say e04.
And i posted this exactly because i dont know another good series recently... the last good one before DTB2 was Rideback (which isn't exactly well-known, i only watched it because Onucia told me).
And of course Spice&Wolf, but it's already over :(

For incomming series I know there's Darker Than Black Gaiden comming this january...other than that, most stuff comming in march hasn't been announced yet so hard to say...
To Aru Kagaku no Railgun is a nice ongoing serie if you liked To Aru Majutsu no Index.

And DTB2 is fucking short. 12 series ?! WTF.
Well, there's Black Lagoon 3 coming next year (which is cool), and Code Geass 3 (which is just crazy), but damn nothing else to see :(
@Onu: i never played the game or watched 2006 series of same name, but... the music in your trailer is so... recognizable =) Looks like Kenji Kawai holds to his traditions, so to say...
