game delay
« on: 12. February 2013, 17:21:22 (05:21 PM) »

Hi there

Could any of you have a usefull advise to get rid of spellcast delay in game?

It is usually on raid this causes an issue for me and last night it topped with a delay for up to 12 sec's...kinda frustration to see it takes that long from you hit the icon to the spell goes off, and its kinda hard to be at much use when you suddenly end up having 6 or more spells in queue.

this isnt general lag issues as we all have seen at some points
(Speed test for dl and ul doesent show any faults)

Regards
Cicc

Maybe some firewall stuff? Try and stop it next raid and see if it gets better...

That's the only thing I can think about atm... probably not the solution, but you can always try that and make sure...

Hopefully someone will have more info or ideas about this.

Press F11 and bring the up status bar, it has 4 different colours, Blue = Latency (300 is about average), Green = Graphics over 12-13 FPS will generally be ok in combat, Yellow some thing to do with server lag, if its high 50k or something it usually means its a SOE problem (zone lag etc) and i think the last one is packets lost which is red and should be 0 if your loosing loads of packets could be an issue also. When this happens again just cycle through the colours by clicking them and record what they are.

Green - Upgrade Graphics Card / Drivers
Blue - Your internetz
Yellow - SoE problem
Red - no idea but id check your connection to internet if its wireless make sure you have a good clear view from wrouter to your wireless card

I've searched a bit on the official forum.
It appears the developers this monday found some stuff that can give this delay and just as important...they promised to get it fixed in a nearby patch.

In my status bar things are normal except the yellow one, which i saw ding up to 72k....i believe my delay begins to show small issues when i'm around 25k

Yellow = SOE usually and not much you can do about it, try do a speedtest.net see if any thing unusual pops up but really its a long shot.

yeah in the new raidzones and pow i get the same crap every now and then. yellow shoots up to 40 to 70k constantly.
the red one is for package loss between the server and yourself , a combo of soe and your own internet there. this one usually doesnt go off unless your ping is spiking like a maniac.
wich im familiar with as well lol, ping goes to 8k and thats it . next thing youll see is your desktop or yourself faceplanted in raid.

last one will not be an issue for me in the near future. i will be moving soon and will get a decent connection and not an adsl connection to the middle of nowhereville.

So far, im not getting any more lag, using a personal method that seems to have fixed the problem, involes editing the OS registary and changing protocols and crap like that
